Under a Tuscan sky

We've read the book, seen the movie, now let's bike it.
But firstly a short history lesson. In 247bc , on this day, a famous battle took place here just above our hotel. Hannibal led an  army of Carthaginians against the Romans and killed 15000 of them.
That's not how you spell Tuscany ?
This is what we've been looking for. The Bonifico trail. A 62 k long trail on a canal bank from Chuiti to Arezzo
At its beginning is this ancient Celtic burial site.
It wasn't suitable for cruising bikes though so we soon got off it and onto country roads.
It's a comfortable 30degrees today but we still put on heaps of sunblock and fill our bottles at least 3 times
VERY difficult following the map route as it doesn't tell you which village is sitting on a hill
The bread van was doing his rounds through the little villages today.
With great difficulty we finally got around Arezzo and just north of it we came across another commonwealth war cemetery . The Italy campaign is of great interest to me because 2 of my uncles ,Ritchie and Alick fought here
Any relation Craig ?
It's 4 o'clock and we've done 80kms so this old hotel was a welcome sight. It's been in the family for 3 generations. Our room had a beautiful view over the country side and as usual at this time of day a thunderstorm rolled in
