We passed several herds of the White Carmague horses and lots of horse treking farms. Horse is commonly eaten in France so I guess these would be for people who eat white meat .
Road side stalls were selling their fruit and local wares. Picked up a rockmelon and apricots here. Then yoghurt ,juice and bread at a super mâché . By now we were on the canal into Aigue Morte
Aigue Morte is spectacular. Built by Louis 1X as France's only sea port. (Smaller coast then. ) Needed at the time to launch Crusades to the holy land
Leaving here, we followed the Sete a' Rhone canal. Not sure what we are going to find or if we can even bike beside it
We needn't have worried. It was fantastic ! It goes through a lot of shallow lakes all the way to Agde . It's surreal riding through the middle of a lake on the dredgings that were dug out for it.
I must say though that the people who hire canal boats on it must be bored witless . Dead straight and not much to see down on the water.
We were hoping to stop at Palavos les Flots tonight but it was a yuppy place and full up so we took a detour around the St Michaels monastery and went inland a bit
