Castelnaudary

 We are turning down breakfast in most places now. They're not what we want and they generally don't serve it until 7.30 . We like to be on the road by 7.00 to beat the afternoon heat. ( its 6pm and still 31 degrees outside)

  Anyway , its only 5kms along the road to Carcassonne

The 'medieval city' this place is spactacular! Apart from the old walled city , the centre ville has been recently refurbished with lots of works of art

I love the way some of the barges are dressed up with flowers

Many of the locks, like the shops ,shut for lunch and siesta. The rental barges just have to sit and wait

While we roll along in the cool of the shade. Just love it !

The signs are confusing and take us along a few kms of road

Castelnaudary, on the big man made

 lake that also serves as a reservoir 

It's 3pm so we book into a pub . I get a spoke fixed at a nearby bike shop . 

  Isn't this a good idea. Drive through post boxes. ( note the shade trees along the Main Street )
