Assisi

It's 33 degrees today so last nights beer is soon leaking out of my pores . It's only 20kms to Assisi but the last 4 are straight up.
Christine's riding a spiritual high today. She's been taught about this place since she was a toddler
We've arrived! We're so high I half expected St Peter to come out and stop me. "Wrong place Don "
This place is all about St Francis (San Francisco in Italian ) This basilica is dedicated to St Clare who started the female branch of the Franciscan order, the poor Clare's.
At the far end of town is the Basilica of St Francis. They built the new one on top of the old one in 1253
And under both of them is the crypt where he lies. There was a service on with beautiful singing by young priests. Amazing acoustics !
Now this is what gets my juices flowing
 The latest Harley
We need to get moving and find somewhere to sleep. Down off the hill and back in the biking gear
We tried for Perugia but it's on top of a cruel hill. Nearly up there and we came across Stellars hotel. It wasn't open for summer yet but they were so kind and made us up a room. The family were all bikers including grandad,95 now !
