We've been doing this section above Basel without a map, our first set of 6 maps ran out at the French border, and so today we took a wrong turn somewhere just out of Waldshut and followed a road with a more direct route but with a cycle way running beside it.
Schaffhausen isn't just a beautiful old city, it's a province this juts out into Germany across the Rhein. It makes for lots of border crossings as Switzerland isn't in the EU. ( all other countries in the EU have done away with border posts)
This city is famous for the Rheinfalls, a mighty waterfall . 'I had no idea that there was a waterfall on the Rhein'
This 15th century fortress, the Muton, towers above the old part of town.
They have concerts on top of it ! I've taken a shot standing on the stage looking out.
I liked the statues they built above all the drinking fountains. Lots of ancient old shops, a cobbler working out in the alley, but our favorite shop is 'Aldi '
They bake the bread in an aisle for you to grab fresh. Yum !
