As we bike out of Schaffhausen on our last day east,we can see our camp from last night over the river. Those punts are about 7 meters long and although some have outboards, many are propelled the traditional way like a gondolier .
A favorite past time of the locals is to jump in and drift down with the current, bloody dangerous considering the current and the speed boats ,that race up and down the river!
The route goes through some lovely villages and through lots of vineyards.
The old town in this photo is Stein am Rhein.
The trail sometimes runs beside a main road. Imagine if they would do this beside the road to Waihi how good that would be!
After about 25 Km's we reach lake Constance and have lunch at Moos.
Another 15 kms Of mostly gravel, and we catch the train at Radolfzell ,back to get our van at Schaffhausen. This has been a spectacular section and the busiest yet.
Found a nice quiet little camp near Engen for what we hope will be the final section to the Danube.
