Oh no! Not again ! I threw that damn tube away and put the new one on i'd bought. The yard had another 6 bikes in it that had arrived last night.
Since we'd seen Redon before we made another executive decision to miss it and head north and pick up the Valaine at Besle-sur-Vilaine. First goal, Guemene-Penfao
Now this is a good sign! What a beautiful village . 3 stars on its Flower village sign means it's going to be pretty special.
The road was quiet and in no time we had reached the river at Besle-SV.. It's coffee time ,(which I knocked over!)
Napoleon had the Vilaine made navigable and then had it joined up to St Malo on the north coast. Partly to avoid the treacherous seas off the end of Brittany and partly to avoid the English navy
Now the English use it to get to Bordeaux. It's a beautiful cycleway.
Each dam had to have a lock beside it and most had a mill as well. Some are still working.
Pilgrims. On their way from Le Mont St Michel to De Compostella in Spain. See the scallop shells on their packs?
You have no idea how many times we have talked about you since we met in Rennes. Laughed to see you stayed at the exact same Ibis in St Malo! You didn't by chance find my orange lightweight day bag under the bed? Can really relate to the scones with jam and clotted cream in the Channel islands...mmmm... and of course now you are in the UK you can't miss the full english breakfast! We are jealous! Hope to catch up later this year to discuss our trip following in your footsteps...
