We're 10kms out of Melk and it starts raining. It's only 2.30 but being the sissys we are we dived in to the first gesthof and booked in. Now it's come out fine and we wished we'd kept going.
Saddling up the horses this morning. Nice pub, only €50 and breakfast was early so we could get an early start.
Remember the song line that goes "and I never saw a town that didn't look better looking back, " that's what I was singing as I left Linz with it's huge steel mills and chemical plants
At Mathousen we were toying with the idea of checking out the concentration camp but it was up a hill and that swung the balance. Besides , I've been to aushwitz and that's enough misery for one life. Anyway, this lovely procession was taking place in the town square which was far more uplifting.
We met a couple of kiwis here, the first on this trip. Peter and Anne from Christchurch. They're doing the Eurovelo 6 also, to Belgrade .
We are improving our lunches since being shown up by Francois .
And here we are, having a cup of tea outside tonight's lodging. No food so we walked into the village and sat on the bikeway with a beer and a pizza.
And bugger me days but along comes Francois again. Apparently I'd spelt his name the feminine way on the last blog and he's been pedalling madly ever since to catch up and set me right
